The retail industry has been undergoing a significant transformation in recent years, with digital technologies revolutionizing the way businesses operate. To accelerate this digital shift, the DIGITAIL project has been launched, embarking on a mission to identify, describe, and develop a professional profile capable of driving the digitization of the retail sector. The kick-off meeting of this ground-breaking initiative marked the beginning of a collaborative journey to reshape the future of retail.
The partners recognized the significance of technical prowess in areas such as e-commerce platforms, data analytics, digital marketing, and customer relationship management systems. Additionally, the meeting underscored the importance of soft skills like adaptability, problem-solving, and effective communication to thrive in the digitized retail environment.
The kick-off meeting in Bilbao was hosted by Fondo Formacion Euskadi and lead partner Chamber of commerce and industry of Alava, where we accentuated the importance of collaboration among the project partners. With a common vision, the partners acknowledged that a collective effort is essential to achieving the project’s objectives successfully. Through open dialogue and knowledge sharing, the partners aimed to create a dynamic environment that would drive the development of a robust digitized commercial profile.
The overarching aim of the DIGITAIL project sets the stage for a range of detailed objectives and outcomes that will be achieved upon its completion. These goals are concrete and tangible, and they form the foundation of the project’s vision.
R 1: Explorative research
One of the primary goals of the DIGITAIL project is to implement an in-depth research study that identifies the specific needs and requirements of the target group for the planned training program. This study will utilize core focus groups with companies, retail sector representatives, commerce staff, VET experts, and VET learners. By engaging these stakeholders, the project aims to gain detailed insights into the knowledge and fields required to bridge the gap between the current non-digitized situation and the digitalized sector. These findings will not only inform the training program but also be valuable for dissemination and exploitation purposes.
R2: Development of a modular training programme
To empower retail sector professionals, the DIGITAIL project focuses on developing a modular and fragmented training program. This program will cater to responsible individuals and staff in companies and businesses within the retail sector. By adhering to European VET standards, methodologies, and instruments, the training program ensures quality and consistency. To reflect the different realities and competence needs across various European countries, the program will be divided into small learning chunks. This approach allows for localized implementation while addressing the unique requirements of each region. The entire training program is estimated to have a duration of approximately 80 to 100 learning hours.
R 3: Handbook
To showcase the potential of modern digitalization, the DIGITAIL project will develop a comprehensive handbook specifically designed for retail sector staff in companies. This handbook will serve as a practical guide, incorporating European VET principles and practical exercises. It will provide valuable insights into the benefits and applications of digitalization, enabling retail professionals to embrace and leverage digital technologies effectively. By aligning with European VET principles, the handbook ensures relevance and applicability to the retail sector’s evolving needs.
